1. Battery
Nikon EN-EL 15 Battery – The Nikon D7100’s battery life is really good at 950 shots, but if you plan on doing longer shootings (weddings, traveling), then you know how important it is to always carry at least one extra battery. In case one gets empty or displays an error, you’re done.
- Non-Nikon batteries are usually low quality and can damage your camera
- If you record videos or shoot weddings, concerts, an extra battery is a must
- You can get up to 2000 shots with two batteries
You can buy it at Amazon.

2. Flash Speedlite
Neewer TT560 Flash – Works perfectly on all Nikon DSLR cameras (Canon as well), comes with a built-in bounce card and a diffuser, and is easy and simple to use regardless of your skills. Number one selling flash on Amazon because of its low price and good results.
- Works perfectly on Nikon and Canon DSLRs
- Vertical Rotation: 0-90 degrees | Horizontal Rotation: 0-270 degrees
- Guide Number 38 (at ISO 100)
- Features 8 steps of power levels (from 1/128 to 1/1)
- Slave mode so you can use it with other flash units
You can buy it at Amazon.
3. Memory Card
SanDisk 32GB Extreme Pro UHS-I (95MB/s) – SanDisk is number one when it comes to memory cards brands, and this one is fast enough so you can take pictures in burst mode without waiting for the card to write the files. This is really important when you can’t afford to miss a shot due to the fact your card is slow at writing shots/videos (weddings, events and night photography for example).
- Read up to 90MB/s + Write up to 95MB/s
- It’s waterproof, shockproof and x-ray proof as well
- Full HD at 60fps and 6fps burst mode are no challenge for this card
- You can store over 3,000 shots on 32GB (assuming you shoot at 24MP, JPEG)
You can buy it at Amazon.

4. Battery Grip
Nikon MB-D15 – If you want more stability, vertical shutter button and longer battery life, you should get a battery grip. Even shooting in the vertical position alone is a good reason to get one of these, as you’ll be much more stable. A grip does add more weight though, so think if your current setup is already too heavy for you.
- Double battery life (around 2000 shots before re-charging)
- If you often shoot vertically, the extra shutter button provides much more stability so you can get sharper images
- The grip can also be used with regular 6 x AA batteries
You can buy it at Amazon.

5. Tripod
Dolica AX620 62″ Tripod and Ball Head – Hands down the best tripod for any DSLR under $100 (this one costs $50). You shouldn’t get the cheapest tripod because they’re usually aimed at lighter cameras like a point and shoot.
- Supports a maximum weight of 13.2lbs (Nikon D7100 body weighs 1lb 11 oz )
- Weighs 2.5 lbs and is 22.5 inches tall (when fully collapsed)
- 62 inches maximum height
- Ball head plate and a bubble level
You can buy it at Amazon.

6. Disc Light Reflectors
Neewer 5-in-1 (43″) Collapsible Light Reflector – Light is the most important factor for any photograph, and the more you can control/affect it, the more chances you have of truly getting professional shots. Sometimes that’s by using an external flash, and sometimes that’s by simply reflecting the available light (or with a flash) to specific areas of your subject.
- 5 light reflectors in 1 (43 inches diameter when opened)
- Gold, black, silver, white and translucent, 5 most popular colors
- Perfect for both studio and outdoor photography, easy to carry
- This is the cheapest but most effective accessory to really make your shots look better (I also recommend the flash above)
You can buy it at Amazon.
7. Shutter Remote Control
Pixel RW-221 Wireless Shutter Remote – If you’re into night photography, fireworks, stop motion or any type of photography where you use longer shutter speeds and can’t have your finger constantly on the shutter button, a remote control really makes your life easier and allows you to be more precise with long exposures (there’s also no shake from you pressing the shutter button on the camera itself).
- Works with the Nikon D7100 and almost all cameras on the market
- Also features a delay shooting function for group shots
- Uses 2xAAA batteries and works for 400 hours.
You can buy it at Amazon.
