Looking for the best Olympus E-M1 II accessories?
The ones we’ve selected are perfect if you’re looking to either improve the quality of your images, or simply want accessories that will make your photography career easier (like an extra battery, or a tripod for stability).
We’ve only picked accessories from reputable brands, and made sure they’re compatible with the Olympus E-M1 II (some work on almost all Olympus cameras) and aren’t overpriced. At the bottom of each accessory, we also link to a slightly cheaper (sometimes third-party) item.
You don’t need to buy everything when you’re just starting out, but as you grow and learn, it helps to have items that will allow you to get even better shots!
Best accessories for Olympus E-M1 II:
1. Olympus BLH-1 Battery
2. Neweer TT560 Flash
3. SanDisk 32GB Extreme Pro 95MB/s
4. Olympus HLD-9 Battery Grip
5. Dolica AX620 62″ Tripod
6. Newer 5-in-1 (43″) Collapsible Reflector
7. JJC Wireless Remote Controle
Olympus BLH-1 Battery – If you prefer buying official batteries, the BLH-1 will cost you around $50. Olympus’s batteries are high quality and last for a long time, so if you want to go the safest route it’s always better to buy the brand. We’re not saying cheaper alternatives won’t work, because they do for many, but there’s simply a higher risk of failure.
- Non-Olympus batteries are usually low quality
- If you record videos or shoot weddings, concerts, an extra battery is a must
- You can get up to 440 shots on a single charge
You can buy it on Amazon.

2. Flash Speedlite
Neewer TT560 Flash – Works perfectly on all Olympus cameras (and other camera manufacturers), comes with a built-in bounce card and a diffuser, and is easy and simple to use regardless of your skills. Number one selling flash on Amazon because of its low price and good results.
- Works perfectly with the Olympus E-M1 II
- Vertical Rotation: 0-90 degrees | Horizontal Rotation: 0-270 degrees
- Guide Number 38 (at ISO 100)
- Features 8 steps of power levels (from 1/128 to 1/1)
- Slave mode so you can use it with other flash units
You can buy it on Amazon.
3. Memory Card
SanDisk 32GB Extreme Pro UHS-I (95MB/s) – SanDisk is number one when it comes to memory cards brands, and this one is fast enough so you can take pictures in burst mode without waiting for the card to write the files. This is really important when you can’t afford to miss a shot due to the fact your card is slow at writing shots/videos (weddings and fireworks for example). An extra memory card is the cheapest accessory you can buy, but is often the most important especially if you take tons of pictures/videos.
- Read up to 90MB/s + Write up to 95MB/s
- It’s waterproof, shockproof and x-ray proof as well
- 4K video and burst shooting on the E-M1 II are no challenge for this card
You can buy it on Amazon.
Also: SanDisk 64GB Extreme Pro (95MB/s)
4. Battery Grip
Olympus HLD-9 Battery Grip – Why get a battery grip? You can use 2 batteries and double your shooting time, it adds extra stability, and you also have a vertical shooting button for when shooting vertically. If you’ve ever shot like that with bigger lenses, you know how hard it is to be completely stable.
- Double battery life (around 900 shots before re-charging)
- If you often shoot vertically, the extra shutter button provides much more stability so you can get sharper images
You can buy it on Amazon.
5. Tripod
Dolica AX620 62″ Tripod and Ball Head – Hands down the best tripod under $100 for any camera (this one costs $50). For landscape, studio and indoor photography, this is a must. If you’re going to shoot in more serious conditions, then also think about spending a lot more for an even sturdier tripod ($300+). For most people, this will be more than enough though.
- Supports a maximum weight of 13.2lbs (Olympus E-M1 II with a battery weighs 1.26 lbs)
- Weighs 2.5 lbs and is 22.5 inches tall (when fully collapsed)
- 62 inches maximum height
- Ball head plate and a bubble level
You can buy it on Amazon.

6. Disc Light Reflectors
Neewer 5-in-1 (43″) Collapsible Light Reflector – Light is the most important factor for any photograph, and the more you can control/affect it, the more chances you have of truly getting professional shots. Sometimes that’s by using an external flash, and sometimes that’s by simply reflecting the available light (or with a flash) to specific areas of your subject.
- 5 light reflectors in 1 (43 inches diameter when opened)
- Gold, black, silver, white and translucent, 5 most popular colors
- Perfect for both studio and outdoor photography, easy to carry
- This is the cheapest but most effective way to really make your shots look better (I also recommend the flash above)
You can buy it on Amazon.
7. Shutter Remote Control
JJC Wireless Remote Control – If you’re into night photography, fireworks, stop motion or any type of photography where you use longer shutter speeds and can’t have your finger constantly on the shutter button, an accessory such as a remote control really makes your life easier and allows you to be more precise with long exposures (there’s also no shake from you pressing the shutter button on the camera itself).
- Works with all Olympus cameras on the market, including the E-M1 II
- Up to 50 meters range
- Works wirelessly or wired
You can buy it on Amazon.
