Canon Rebel T5 vs T3i/600D

canon-rebel-t5-vs-t3iThe Canon EOS Rebel T3i was announced in 2011, while the Rebel T5 came out in early 2014. Based on specifications only, it would be almost impossible to figure out which one is the newer model, as the Rebel T5 and T3i seem almost identical. We’ve had quite a few requests to compare the T5 to the T3i, as the latter is still an extremely popular model. Also make sure to check out the comparison with the T5i!

Advantages of the Canon Rebel T5:

  • 100g lighter body
  • 60 shots longer battery life

3 years, 2 minor differences. The T5 does indeed sit at a slightly lower position, but that’s still no reason for this little innovation.

Advantages of the Canon Rebel T3i:

  • Slightly faster burst mode (3.7 vs 3fps)
  • Articulating LCD screen
  • Higher LCD resolution
  • More affordable

The Rebel T3i costs less than $500 at Amazon, which is almost $100 less than the T5. Seeing as they’re almost the same thing, I recommend you to stick to the older model.
