Canon T6 Advantages:

• NFC – The T6 supports NFC connection

• Less Expensive – With the kit lens, the T6 is around $250 cheaper

The Canon T6 is super affordable and you can easily see this in the lack of any specifications where it would beat the D5500.

It’s a good camera and can be used for any type of photography, but it’s simply that by paying less, you get less features. If your budget is around $450 and you don’t want to go over that, the decision is easy.

Nikon D5500 Advantages:

• Megapixels – 8 more megapixels and a newer sensor

• AA Filter – The D5500 has no AA filter which results in slightly sharper images

• Higher Max ISO – The D5500 has 2 stops higher maximum ISO and also shows a little bit less noise

• Auto Focus – It’s got 39 points and 9 of those are cross-type. The T6 has only 9 points and 1 is cross-type, so the D5500 wins big here as it’ll focus faster and more precise when shooting in low light

• 5 vs 3fps – Noticeably faster and better for wildlife and sports

• LCD Display – 3.2″ vs 3.0″ and it’s also fully articulated, sharper and supports touchscreen

• Full HD at 60fps – The T6 can “only” do 30fps, so 60fps is better for slow motion clips and smoother videos

• Microphone Jack – If audio quality is important to you, the D5500 allows you to plug in an external microphone

• UHS-I – Both cameras have 1 x SD memory card slot but the D5500 will be able to use the speeds of faster UHS-I SD cards

• Bigger Buffer – 100 shots JPEG buffer versus 15. Much better if you want to shoot wildlife or any extreme sport

The D5500 wins hands down. Newer, better sensor and video features that are more useful for recording yourself or pretty much anything else thanks to an articulating 3.2″ screen and a microphone jack.

For photography, the 39-point AF system is a big help and the 100 shots JPEG buffer is more than you’ll need. Battery life with 820 shots is long and the camera can also shoot at 5fps!
